Welcome to our classroom! We had a great first week of school! We had a few tears, but they were short lived! The children are getting to know each other and they have already started to make new friends! The first week we concentrated on getting to know all our friends and our classroom rules and routines. For the rest of September we will also learn about Ourselves and our Families, and Apples, Leaves, Colors, and Shapes. We will start October off by learning about Community Helpers. Please let us know if you or someone in your family is a Community Helper, and if you would like to come and talk to our class about your job! We love having visitors in our class!
Preschool is a Busy place and it can get messy! Keep this in mind as your child dresses him/herself for school. Play clothes and sneakers work best for both indoor and outdoor activities.
Every day at school your child will be actively involved in many learning centers. Children learn by DOING. They will paint, put puzzles together, create with glue and paper, build amazing structures in the block area, form and cut playdough, use scissors in the cutting area, “cook” in the kitchen, and create puppet shows to name a few things. They learn by DOING, and learning is a lifelong process. At the end of our day, they may not have anything tangible to bring home; it is the PROCESS that is SO important in their growth and development.
We will go outside as the weather allows. Sneakers are best for the playground, and please send a coat or jacket as the weather dictates. We encourage children to “at least try” to put on their own jacket and you will be surprised at how quickly they will learn to do it! You can help them by encouraging them to “practice” at home! Together, we will be promoting their self-confidence and helping them to feel more “grown-up”! Please LABEL (everything) you child’s coat as many look alike to small children, and names will help us avoid mix-ups
